Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) initiated a Village Health and Conservation Team (VHCT) programme in 2007, with the aim of protecting the critically endangered population of mountain gorillas at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda, from infection with human-related diseases. This PCLG policy brief reports on learning from CTPH’s model for integrating health and conservation and includes policy pointers on what government, NGOs and donors can do to improve and implement an integrated approach to health and conservation. This publication is an output of the Poverty and Conservation Learning Group (PCLG) - Briefing Paper
