A national assessment of human wildlife conflict in Sri Lanka that will help guide the design of an insurance scheme. The report reviews the extent of human wildlife conflict and its impacts of people and elephants, its causes and ways to mitigate it, including the role of insurance.
IIED is working to facilitate private markets to insure small-scale women and men farmers for damage caused by human-wildlife conflict, primarily from elephants. This will provide support for insurance in two countries, Kenya and Sri Lanka.
