Standards for Gorilla Friendly™ Park Edge Community Products
Project material, 40 pages
These Standards for Gorilla FriendlyTM Park Edge Community Products have been produced to encourage best practice among community enterprises that supply products to the tourist market around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. The Gorilla FriendlyTM programme is voluntary. This document outlines in text and images the required and recommended, general and product-specific standards applicable to enterprises that wish to certify their products as Gorilla FriendlyTM. The aim is that the standards label will provide a market advantage for products and incentivise conservation of Gorilla habitats.

Gorilla-tracking tourist activities in Uganda's Bwindi national park generate critical revenue for conservation, but local benefits from tourism are limited and the illegal use of the park's resources continues. This project will develop and test new community-based tourism products and services that improve local skills and job opportunities, and the long-term prospects for the park.
