National Report on Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Development Policy and Planning Initiative Uganda
This short report from the Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Development Policy and Planning initiative in Uganda outlines discussions at the multi-stakeholder working group held in March – April 2016. It considers how biodiversity conservation is integrated into national plans and how it is implemented. The report identifies the second National Development Plan (NDPII) and especially the Mineral and Energy Sector development plan as a target policy for improving biodiversity mainstreaming, identifying that there is a need for increased investment in biodiversity conservation if this is to be achieved.
This Darwin Initiative and BMZ-funded project supported African countries to use their revised national biodiversity and strategy action plans (NBSAPs) as a vehicle for integrating biodiversity into development policy and planning.
