This paper presents a case study of land use, land tenure and adoption of soil conservation measures by farmers in southern Togo. It describes a survey of 99 rural households carried out in 1990 and presents descriptive statistics of the data collected, along with preliminary tests of association between several variables, with particular emphasis on the differences between tenants and owner-occupiers.
