Shifting Cultivation in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam: Regional overview and policy recommendations

Presenting an overview of the results of a research project considering shifting cultivation in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, this report describes the status and dynamics of shifting cultivation in all three countries. In particular it looks at how policy and other forces are altering the environmental, economic and social values of upland land use. The report presents the critical policy relevant issues which now concern the sustainability of shifting cultivation and alternative land uses.
