Rural District Planning in South Africa: A case study

This study provides a detailed review and critical analysis of rural planning in South Africa, covering past and current systems and practices, methodological approaches and institutional frameworks. There is a particular focus on the Free State province, looking at provincial and local government. The sustainable livelihood approach is used as a framework for analysis, focusing on the assets of people, vulnerabilities under which they live and the institutional structures and processes that influence them.
