This paper documents the changes that have taken place during the lifetime of the conflict management work in the Karimojong Cluster undertaken by the Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU/IBAR), whose mandate is to support and improve animal health and production in Africa. This project arose from veterinary interventions to control rinderpest and the establishment of sustainable community-based animal health systems in the Greater Horn of Africa. The paper outlines lessons learnt through field-based peacebuilding efforts.
