Although cattle manure is widely used as a fertiliser, it is often of poor quality, as nutrients are lost through volatilisation and leaching during storage and handling. The aim of this study is to improve traditional methods of soil fertility by developing storage and handling systems that minimise losses and enhance the quality of manure. The paper presents the results of a study conducted in the Mangwende Communal Area of Zimbabwe.
