The terms 'Climate-Smart Conservation' and 'Pro-Poor Conservation' are both established in the conservation lexicon. However, the combined term - Climate Smart, Pro-Poor Conservation (CSPPC) - is not.
CSPPC is a new and innovative approach to conservation pioneered by WWF-UK and the WWF Programmes with whom it works. While there is no blueprint approach to CSPPC, a review of the literature highlights a number of key principles or characteristics.
In this WWF-published briefing we present a framework to support conservation managers, project teams and other interested parties in exploring and understanding different programmes’ approaches to CSPPC.
