PRA and its role in reorienting IGFRI's research agenda (PLA 44)

The Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute (IGFRI) has been working to improve livestock fodder management for 25 years. However, they felt that they were no longer targeting the needs of farmers, and used Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) to determine future research direction. This paper gives an interesting overview of the research focus before and after the use of PRA.

Participatory Learning and Action (PLA, formerly PLA Notes) is the world's leading series on participatory learning and action approaches and methods. PLA publishes articles on participation aimed at practitioners, researchers, academics, students and activists. All articles are peer-reviewed by an international editorial board.
