Efficient management of biologically diverse tropical forests

Douglas Southgate

Book/Report, 20 pages

Developed in this paper is an optimal control model of the costs and benefits of using tropical forests as a natural repository of species and folk knowledge. The model serves as a framework for assessing how various market and tenurial incentives influence both deforestation and the collection of information in tropical forests and other ethno-biologically diverse environments.
