MMSD+10: Reflecting on a decade of mining and sustainable development

It is 10 years since the Mining, Minerals and Sustainable Development (MMSD) initiative was completed. Its findings were game-changing for the sector, and mining CEOs of the day committed to act on its agenda as a robust and credible way to maximise the sector’s contribution to sustainable development. So where are we, 10 years on? How far have we travelled towards a sustainable and responsible mineral industry? This paper is intended as a ‘conversation starter’ – providing an initial assessment of the mining and minerals sector’s achievements against the MMSD agenda and opening up further discussion.
